Sustainable investment
The independent Ethics Committee decides on the ethics profile of an issuer (company or country).
The committee is made up of renowned experts from various specialist areas. It monitors compliance with the defined ethical criteria on behalf of all investors. In particular, the values recognized in German-speaking countries with regard to the treatment of people, animals and nature are taken into account.
Sustainable investments differ from short-term investments in two key respects. Firstly, it significantly increases the complexity of an investment product if external effects are no longer ignored. If you look at the entire supply chain, you simply have to think further. What are the production conditions like in the countries of origin? What social and environmental consequences do they have locally? How can ambiguous answers be weighed up? Interdisciplinary and holistic thinking is required here.
On the other hand, ethical issues often appeal to emotions. However, emotions should not be confused with ethical positions. In order to objectively and reproducibly assess whether an investment is sustainable, scientific research is required. This is why we work together with the renowned experts of the PRIME VALUES Ethics Committee. They decide on the ethical assessment of an issuer and monitor compliance with the relevant criteria.

The interdisciplinary and independent Ethics Committee meets monthly and assesses issuers according to defined criteria. Its operational function is to provide the portfolio management with an ethically reviewed investment universe. Investments are only made in securities that are included in this defined universe. The actual selection is the responsibility of the portfolio management.
